Disciplinary Policy

The Wishing Well Day Nursery Play Activities Our aim is to encourage high standards in individual conduct, attendance and performance.

This procedure sets out the action, which will be taken when disciplinary rules are broken. This will apply to all employees during their probationary period.

Principles

The procedure is intended to establish the facts quickly and to deal consistently with disciplinary offences. No disciplinary action will be taken until an alleged disciplinary offence has been investigated.

At every stage, employees will have the opportunity to state their case and be represented, if they wish, by a fellow employee.

An employee has the right to appeal against any disciplinary penalty.

The Procedure

Stage 1 - Oral Warning

If conduct attendance or performance is unsatisfactory, the employee will be given a formal Oral Warning, which will be recorded, on his/her personnel file. The warning will be disregarded after six months satisfactory service.

Stage 2 - Written Warning

If the first offence is serious and if it is not followed by an improvement in standards, or any further offence is committed during the running of the Oral Warning, a Written Warning will be given. It will state the reason for the warning.

Stage 3 - Dismissal

If there is no satisfactory improvement, any further offence or other serious misconduct within six months of the issuing of the Written Warning, the employee will be dismissed.

Authority

Warnings, either Oral or Written and the decision to dismiss an employee, may be given and recorded by our Manager Diane Westley or Mark Buckingham .
