Group Rooms

The Wishing Well is a top class establishment comprising of numerous brightly decorated and spacious rooms. The organisation within each room is flexible and enables each child to settle at his/her own pace.

The Scholars – this group is for our 3 to 5 years olds. They are divided into two spacious rooms 3 to 4 years & 4 to 5 years. The Scholars use the whole of the first floor which is divided into several rooms, a large indoor play room, 2 activity rooms and an Open-plan arts and crafts room incorporating an imaginative play area and Computer area. Each group is cared for by 2 highly trained and dedicated members of staff. One member of staff oversees the running of both rooms to ensure the education of the children is of a high standard and meets OFSTED requirements. Behind the scenes the staff prepare the long, medium and short term planning linked with the current topic to incorporate OFSTED’s Early Learning Goals for pre-school education called Stepping Stones. A child’s day in pre-school will include activities which covers all six areas of development being:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Communication, Language and Literacy
• Mathematical Development
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Physical Development
• Creative Development

Play is the child’s means of discovery, communication and expression. The aim in Pre-school is to develop and implement a comprehensive early year’s curriculum.

To ensure learning is pleasurable and rewarding the staff in the Scholars aim to

• Acknowledge age, ability, previous experience and individual needs of children.
• Ensure all children have access to a varied and stimulating range of activities, which also extends children's knowledge, understanding and skills.
• Develop children’s sense of achievement, self -control and independence.
• Provide the children with more structured and formal education to aid a happy and smooth transition from nursery to school.
